Herencia Historico is a very special treat for even the most demanding tequila aficionado! I've often stated that extended aging periods don't always make a better tequila but I truly love the characteristics of this five year tequila añejo from Tequila del Señor. The ultra-premium tequila commemorates the date of May 27th, 1997, when the European Union signed an agreement, officially recognizing the "Denomination of Origin, Tequila". Apparently on this very date Tequilas del Señor had the foresight to fill 100, 500 liter sherry casks imported from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain with their select tequila. Historico was then aged using a technique known as a Solera process. The result is a wonderful spirit with a rich golden color . Historico is extremely smooth with delicate hints of raisin aromas and flavor while quite amazingly keeping a nice agave character. Definitely a unique tequila that is full, yet mild and perfectly balanced. For me, Historico was an absolute pleasure to sip. If you do try Historico do yourself a favor and use the Riedel tequila glass. You'll get a truer nose and taste that this great tequila deserves.
