Seleccíon Suprema was probably the first of the super, premium aged tequilas to hit the U.S. market with a price tag to match. The first bottle of Seleccíon Suprema that I saw was priced at about $250.00. This was more than twice the cost of the best aged tequila currently available and at the time seemed priced right out of even the avid aficionados budget. As it turns out Herradura Seleccíon Suprema was at least successful enough to pave the way for a flood of ultra-premium products with inflated price tags. The pride of Tequila Herradura, this tequila has been compared to fine cognac and single malt scotch with it's velvety body and sweet flavors. I took the photo of the bottle pictured above while visiting Tequila Herradura's Hacienda San Jose del Refugio with Tim Carter and some other friends. Tim purchased this bottle for $150.00 at the Hacienda relatively early in our visit and I had every intention of taking advantage of the same bargain before heading back to Guadalajara. After spending the afternoon dancing, eating and indulging in the unlimited supply of complimentary El Jimador I somehow lost focus and forgot.
