Sold in Mexico

This splendid Talavera tequila decanter has got to be one of the most beautiful bottles I've seen. Los Azulejos Añejo was apparently produced in limited quantities, sold only in Mexico and I'm told are difficult to find even there. Harry pointed out that the Los Azulejos Añejo bottles are "authentic" Talavera made by a renowned workshop in Cholula, Puebla, by the name of Talavera de La Reyna. One of the 2 most famous producers of this fine and beautiful Mexican tin glazed pottery.

Introduced by the Spaniards in the 16th century, authentic Talavera has some close similarities with tequila in the sense that this type of ceramic can only be produced in certified workshops located in designated villages of the Mexican state of Puebla. Indeed Talavera pottery is regulated by it's own version of the CRT (Consejo Regulador de la Talavera) who monitors the specific standards. Some of these guidelines include the type of clay, which must be obtained from the Talavera Zone in Puebla, the type of base glaze used and Talavera must be hand-painted with specific mineral pigments.

Harry also mentioned the tequila añejo contained inside the wonderful vessel is great. He also concurred with my view of La Cofradía which has become one of my favorite distilleries and I assumed they must have been proud of the tequila they placed in these beautiful containers.
