Tequileña, S.A. DE C.V. - 'La Tequileña'

• Importer •

A.I.G. Wine & Spirits Inc.

The La Tequileña distillery which was originally founded in 1967 was purchased by Sr. Enrique Fonseca in 1990 who according to Bob Emmons was at least at the time the largest agave farmer in Jalisco. Tres-Quatro-Cinco is said to be produced exclusively by the Fonseca family. Evidently this ultra-premium product is the result of a special family blend of 3 examples of aged tequila. 30% three year, 40% four year and 30% five year, hence the name of 3-4-5.
Not to be confused with Porfidio's "cactus" bottles this tequila has been bottled in beautiful limited edition crystal decanters specially designed and then signed and numbered by Mexico City artist, Señor Alonso Gonzales. I don't know if the company had issues with Porfidio or if they had some other motivation but later bottles of 3-4-5 were made with a "prickly pear" cactus in place of the saguaro.

(07-2003) I believe this tequila may now be marketed under the name of Tequila "Solo" - 3-4-5 and
Mission Liquors who carries it has good pictures of the new bottle which now appears to made with blue glass. The bottle continues to have the "prickly pear" cactus inside as well as the hefty $500.00 price tag. Hi-Time Wine Cellars does have Tres-Quatro-Cinco listed for fifty dollars less than that but I'm not sure if it is the prior version or the new Tequila Solo. If you're in the market for one or the other give em' a call first.
