Last July (2002) I ran across Tequila Amate in Puerto Vallarta but did not have the chance to bring home a bottle or taste any of this new 100% agave product. I'm happy to be able to announce that this very good tequila is now available to us here in the States. If you haven't seen it in your area yet I would recommend checking out Mission Liquors or WineGlobe and have a bottle or two shipped to you.

Strong in agave flavor with a light sweetness and very smooth this delightful blanco is produced at La Cofradia which has developed a strong reputation for making excellent tequila. I have found that any tequila I've been able to taste from this distillery has always been very good. In fact some note worthy products initially produced here and then later changed to other facilities seemed to lose their original appeal. The fact that Tequila Amate is produced at La Cofradia immediately suggests that it should be taken seriously and the intense agave flavor and complex character of this blanco should not disappoint even the most demanding of tequila drinkers.
