Tequila Centinela is an excellent Blanco. It has a distinct agave nose and flavor. The initial alcohol bite quickly fades to slightly sweet, almost fruity tones. Reasonably priced as well, this is a great choice if you want to try a traditional 100% agave blanco.
In the Spring of 2002 I noticed Centinela, including the Blanco becoming available again at several of the Internet retailers but now in the bottles previousl only available in Mexico. After a long hiatus it was nice to see this tequila back in the USA. It looks as though I.P.N. is the current importer of Centinela but interestingly enough their website only mentions the Blanco and the Reposado.
Now in the summer of 2003, four of the on-line stores continue to carry the añejo and reposado but the Centinela Blanco appears to be out of stock at all of them.
In Mexico it looks as though the older look of the Mexican bottles is now being used for all Centinela varieties except the 3 year añejo which uses this look that was originally developed for exports.
