Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) is a very significant date in the history of Mexico. On May 5th, 1862 the President of Mexico, Benito Juarez ordered an attack on Napoleon's imperial troops in the city of Puebla. Though outnumbered nearly 2 to 1, the Mexican army defeated the more experienced French troops.
