Tequila Gran Tulum is a new brand (2007) that is currently being sold in some regions of Mexico. Named in honor of the famous Mayan, archaeological site on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in Quintana Roo, Mexico. The Yucatec Mayan word of, "Tulum" basically translates to "wall" or "fortification". For those that have seen this beautiful site the name is certainly approprite as Tulum was strategically built by the Mayan culture, at the edge of the cliffs over looking the Caribbean Sea.
