For many years now my interests have been centered around the Southwest. My State Flower Illustrations began as a series of the Four Corner States. I have dabbled in the fiery-foods industry and love anything and everything that has to do with chiles. Then there is my interest in Tequila, surely born out of my exposure to the Southwest and it's proximity to Mexico and it's culture. If your interests lie in areas such as these you can't help but bump into the name of W. Park Kerr. The founder of The El Paso Chile Company, W. Park Kerr is the author of a number of books on Chiles and Southwestern cuisine, not to mention "The El Paso Chile Company - Margarita Cookbook". With the introduction of Tequila Nacional Silver, Mr. Kerr has now thrown his hat into the ring as a player in the tequila industry. The underlying theme in The El Paso Chile Company and Tequila Nacional seems to be the pursuit of happiness through the enjoyment of food, spirit and a Southwestern, or more specifically in Park Kerr's case a West Texas way of life. I personally applaud W. Park Kerr for introducing a blanco into a market over-run with reposados and añejos. This is probably due to the natural progression in tequila production. Obviously a blanco, fresh from the still will be the first in line for bottling but never the less this is not usually how we see tequila arrive in the market. I'm sure if Nacional is successful and there is no reason to believe it won't be, a rested and aged version of this fine tequila will soon follow. The provided links below will take you to the Tequila Nacional website or click on the book icon if you are interested in the "Margarita Cookbook."
