As by Mexican regulations all tequilas are distilled twice. The innovative Porfidio company put this blanco through a third distillation in the effort to create an ultra-premium blanco. The result is an unaged tequila that is very smooth and wonderful for both mixing and sipping. It's true that the third distillation has mellowed the agave flavor, causing Porfidio Plata to meet with criticism from some reviewers but it is a premium quality product and should be enjoyed and respected for it's own unique characteristics.

The Triple Distilled Plata is now sold in a blue version of the award winning "Cactus" bottle. In the background of the picture above is an example of the original bottles that were acid dipped in Guadalajara to give them the frosted look and then dye was rubbed in with a cloth to achieve the blue to aqua gradation. The hand-blown blue cactus bottles are a great addition to the aesthetics of the Porfidio family of tequilas and the no longer available older bottles have become quite collectible.
