Pura Sangre had an established identity and reputation in Mexico as a quality tequila but many of us in this country will no doubt associate the name with Porfidio as a result of the curious and questionable marketing ploy of releasing knock-off "cactus" bottles. The bottle pictured above from Adam's collection is a Mexican version of Pura Sangre Blanco that also uses the name Xalixco. This name and label has long been owned by the La Tequileña factory and apparently Xalixco is an antiquated spelling of Jalisco. The U.S. bottling of this tequila can be had at the on-line retailers listed above as well as the controversial "cactus" bottles.
