Many of you may be familiar with Aguila Tequila. It used to be available in a number of markets here in the U.S. as a tequila añejo. The aged version of this tequila had all but disappeared and like so many other labels we were left to wonder about the fate of this product. In the summer of 2002 I was contacted by the new owners of Aguila Tequila and they informed me that Aguila was again being imported and sold in certain areas with new markets slated for distribution in the future. They added that Aguila Tequila was now sold as reposado in place of the prior añejo. This Agulia Reposado has and will continue to be produced at Tequila El Viejito by the Nuñez family, which has a proud tradition of three generations in the industry. Aguila will also continue to be imported by Guadalajara Imports which is now under new ownership. |
