Most of us North Americans are all too familiar with the name of Jose Cuervo. "Cuervo Especial," the mixed tequila usually referred to as "Cuervo Gold" was long considered by most of us gringos to be at the pinnacle of quality. We just didn't know any better. The 100% agave "Jose Cuervo Tradicional" is also widely available, normally competitively priced and a much better choice. Cuervo has always gone toe to toe with Tequila Sauza and I believe 'Tradicional' was designed to compete on the same level as Sauza Hornitos. They have similar prices and characteristics. This is a very good mass produced reposado that is great for mixing as well as sipping. Anyone who normally drinks "Cuervo Gold" should fork out a couple more bucks and get "Tradicional" instead.
