The Hacienda La Capilla factory lies in the traditional Mexican village of Capilla de Guadalupe. Located in the highlands region or Los Altos, east of Guadalajara the company is now producing at least two labels. One with the proprietary name of "Hacienda La Capilla" and this 100% agave offering of Tequila El Amo. Apparently this factory has produced a number of other labels seen in past markets but the company is now in more control of the operation, including the plant, the tequila and it's National and International distribution. Before Hacienda La Capilla had a deal with an importer in the USA I was able to get a bottle of El Amo and would recommend this reposado to all that can find it. I've also spoken to someone who visited the factory and tried an añejo version of this tequila that wasn't available to the pubic at the time. He couldn't say enough about how fantastic it was. I'm sure that tequila was the El Amo Special Edition Añejo that is now available in the USA, thanks to Agave, Inc. and Hacienda La Capilla.

While attending the San Diego, FestUSA "Spirits of Mexico" event in September of 2004 I was happy to meet the new importers/distributors of Tequila El Amo. A company called Agave, Inc. out of Van Nuys, CA, and they were obviously very excited about representing the great products from Hacienda La Capilla. I was surprised and excited to see El Amo represented in the States so quickly and we attendees were treated to samples of this wonderful reposado. This Reposado and El Amo Special Edition Añejo are currently available at Hitime and a Blanco should be soon.
