This is a new tequila out of Tequila Parreñita. Most everything I have on this label for now was supplied by the owners of this mark but I'll look forward to the opportunity to taste it as this factory has produced highly regarded tequilas under labels like, Don Tacho and Penca Azul. In his 1997 book, "The Book of Tequila", Bob Emmon's briefly mentions the production of a tequila named, "J.R. Jamie Rosales. As mentioned below, Tequila Mascarillo is owned by brothers, Jose and Luis Rosales Camarena who are from El Arenal where the La Escondida factory is located. These factors lead me to believe that the Rosales Camarena family has a long and close relationship with Tequila Parreñita.

At this time (Feburary 2007) Tequila Mascarillo is available as a Blanco and Reposado while an Añejo is in the wood and slated for release in the near future.

MISSION

TEQUILA MASCARILLO SA de CV was founded at the end of 2005  by the visionary young brothers Jose and Luis Rosales Camarena from El Arenal town, with the goal of producing  the best tasting Tequila, in a beatifull  bottle with a truly legend behind the product.

THE LEGEND

EL MASCARILLO lent his name to this tequila in honor to a Quarter Horse who belong to the Rosales Camarena Grand Father, this beautiful Quarter Horse  had a white spot on his face that looked like a “mask” an this  is the reason why they named the horse  “EL MASCARILLO”.

PROCESS

Our Tequila is manufactured by fabrica “La Escondida” in El Arenal. On 1955 Don Jorge Ruiz built “La Escondida” in this town.  TEQUILA MASCARILLO is made from 100% blue agave  tequilana weber, with an optimus riperess of  8 years average,  with the highest quality under an excellent  procedure.

THE BOTTLE

TEQUILA MASCARILLO bottle is unique, each beatifully bottle is a piece of art because every  bottle  is  hand made by artisan schooled in the art of glass making, this  is  a collectable  piece. Each bottle is individually washed in tequila before is filled  with  TEQUILA MASCARILLO. MASCARILLO bottles are fashioned from recycled glass, keeping with enviromentally  policies. Each bottle is carefully hand inspected for shape, volume & clarity.
