Many reading this page are probably aware that Patrón was always produced at Tequila Siete Leguas in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco with the NOM 1120 (actually Patrón was identified with 1120-1). A new Patrón facility, also in Atotonilco el Alto was opened late in 2002 apparently to keep up with high demands. Current labels have the NOM of 1492 and are using an acronym of "CDC" for the name of the new factory. I don't know what this may stand for or what other possible politics could've been involved here. For a brief period these new bottles of Patrón displayed a modification of the name to "Del Patrón". I was curious about the addition of "Del" to the name and wonder if it was a marketing decision or maybe brought on from some legal issues. It now looks like the word "Del" has been dropped from the label again. In November of 2004, The Patrón Spirits Company launched their new website at: patronspirits.com. The older site (hotelpatron.com) was certainly adequate but this slick new "Flash" site is very well done and better fits the Patrón image. Check it out and have renowned "Master Mixologist", Tony Abou-Ganim, mix you up a few cocktails. So well done it's a little creepy, but very cool.

Apparently the new factory is meeting demand because in 2003 supplies of Patrón were beginning to dry up. Now, in the summer of 2004, the new NOM 1492 bottles are showing up everywhere in many new sizes. Miniature 50ml and half size 375ml. bottles, on up to an extra large 1.75 liter bottle.
