The 100% agave Pueblo Viejo is a product of Tequila San Matias de Jalisco. San Matias is one of the oldest and largest tequila producers in Mexico but this is the first chance I have had to try a tequila from this distillery. If you enjoy reposado tequila and can find Pueblo Viejo don't hesitate in picking up a bottle. Light, clean and very smooth, this tequila would definitely be on my favorites list if I could find it more often.

Update: 11/2006: Good news for all is that Marsalle Company picked up the Pueblo Viejo Brand in the summer of 2006. I was very pleased when I first saw new stock of Pueblo Viejo in a local store just a few months ago. In fact I enthusiastically grabbed the Reposado in the gift box with 3 shot glasses for under 20 dollars. The tequila alone at that price is a fabulous value in today's market and puts in direct competition with the likes of Hornitos and Tradicional. I like this tequila for it's consistent quality and extremely good value. Now it seems to have that third, important point of availability.
